recent letter <q>does not appear to require any further notice from you.</q>

I have to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No. 102 of the
<date when="1860-12-06">6<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> of December</date> enclosing copies of a correspondence with <persName ref="prs:dallas">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Dallas</persName>, the <orgName ref="org:hbc">Hudson's Bay Company</orgName>'s Agent at <placeName ref="plc:victoria">Victoria</placeName>, relative to the affairs and<!--<pb facs="co_398_01/co_398_01_00238v.jpg"/>--> position of the Company in connection with the Colony of <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName>.

The explanation contained in your letter to

of December</date> of the<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">matters</fw><pb facs="rg7_g8c_09/rg7_g8c_09_00272v.jpg"/> matters in dispute is satisfactory and his rejoinder (dated the <date when="1860-12-13">13<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> of December</date>) of which a copy has been received from the <orgName ref="org:hbc">Hudsons Bay Company</orgName> does not appear to require any further notice from you.
