Douglas forwards a Requisition made by the Treasurer for 12 Cash books to Newcastle. Jadis minutes that although the expense will be trifling, the Treasury should be asked for approval, prompting Rogers to recommend that the Colonial Office ascertain from the Agent whether he has any money for both the cash books and for the coke Douglas requests in his despatch of 12 January 1862 [Douglas to Pelham-Clinton, 21 January 1862, CO 60:13, no. 2622, 7].

I have the honor to transmit herewith copy of a Requisition made by the Treasurer for 12 Cash books to be sent out viâ Panama with the least delay, and I trust your Grace will be good enough to issue instructions for the booksbooks in question to be supplied as requested.

Sir F. Rogers Authorize the Agents Genl: to procure & send out the Cash Books? Though the expense will be trifling it will I fear be requisite to write in the first instance to the Treasury, unless funds have been provided which can be ascertained by private enquiry? VJ 17 Mh
