<name ref="vsl:plumper" type="vessel">Plumper</name> and HMS <name ref="vsl:hecate" type="vessel">Hecate</name> titled
<ref type="external" target="http://dx.doi.org/10.14288/1.0222152"><title level="m">Four Years in <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName>
and <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouver Island</placeName></title></ref>. The book will soon be published and <persName ref="prs:mayne_rc">Mayne</persName> asks that it be
<q>added to the library of the Colonial Office.</q>

Since my return from Service in HM Ships <name ref="vsl:plumper" type="vessel">Plumper</name> and <name ref="vsl:hecate" type="vessel">Hecate</name>,
employed in surveying the coasts of <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName> and <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouver Island</placeName>, I have prepared for publication my journal kept during the
four years I was there.
</p>
<p>
2. Having been employed, as your Grace has been informed by
the official reports, on several exploring expeditions in the
interior of both <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName> &amp; <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouver Island</placeName>, I am enabled
to give my personal impression<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">of</fw><pb facs="co_60_14/co_60_14_00454v.jpg"/> of this country, which I trust will
be found useful.
</p>
<p>
3. I have the honor to submit my request that your Grace
will be pleased to direct that this book may be added to the
library of the <orgName ref="org:colonial_office">Colonial Office</orgName>.
</p>
<p>
4. The title of the book will be "Four Years in <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName> and <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouver Island</placeName>" by <persName ref="prs:mayne_rc">Comm<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Mayne</persName> RN published by <persName ref="prs:turney">John Turney</persName> Albemarle Street.
