<persName ref="prs:newcastle">Newcastle</persName> sends <persName ref="prs:douglas_j">Douglas</persName> a letter introducing <persName ref="prs:walker_d">Dr. David Walker</persName>.
The letter was intended to be delivered by <persName ref="prs:walker_d">Walker</persName> himself. For some reason, it does not appear in either RG7 G8C/3, the
received originals for <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouver Island</placeName>, or RG7 G8C/10, the received originals for
<placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName>.

This letter will be presented to you by <persName ref="prs:walker_d">Dr. David Walker</persName> who is
proceeding to <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">B. Columbia</placeName>.
</p>
<p>
<persName ref="prs:walker_d">Dr. Walker</persName>, who has been recommended to me by <persName ref="prs:tennent_je">Sir J. Emerson Tennent</persName>, was Surgeon and Naturalist on
board the "<name ref="vsl:fox" type="vessel">Fox</name>" during <persName ref="prs:mcclintock">Sir E. McClintock</persName>'s exploring expedition in search of the remains
of <persName ref="prs:franklin_j">Sir John Franklin</persName>. He is now going out to <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">B. Columbia</placeName> to prosecute the study
of Natural History and to make collections in the Colony. I do not doubt that you will be happy to afford him any attention or assistance in your power.
