I have to acknowledge your letter of <date when="1863-10-27">27<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> instant</date>,
with one from the Governor of the <orgName ref="org:hbc">Hudsons Bay C<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">o</hi></orgName> calling
the attention of the <persName ref="prs:newcastle">Duke of Newcastle</persName> to the delay which
has occurred in the Colony in carrying into effect the
arrangement for the settlement of the Land claims of the
Company in <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName>, made between this Office and
<persName ref="prs:dallas">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Dallas</persName> on <date when="1861-10-11">11<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> Oct<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> 1861</date>.
</p>
<p>
2. We have no information which would enable us to suggest<pb facs="co_60_17/co_60_17_00230v.jpg"/>
any explanation of the delay—and I can only, therefore,
recommend that <persName ref="prs:douglas_j">Governor Douglas</persName>' attention should be
called to it, and that he should be desired to carry the
above arrangement into practical effect, as quickly as
circumstances will allow.
