I have the honor to report for the information of the
<persName ref="prs:newcastle">Duke of Newcastle</persName> that under the authority of your letter of
the <date when="1864-01-14">14<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> January last</date> <persName ref="prs:seymour_f">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Seymour</persName>, previous to his
departure from this Country, selected furniture for the
Government House of <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName> at a total cost of
£1239.11.2,<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">and</fw><pb facs="co_60_20/co_60_20_00053v.jpg"/> and that the <orgName ref="org:ocac">Crown Agents</orgName> reimbursed him a
further sum of £204.18.10, as authorized by your letter
of the <date when="1864-02-17">17<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> Ultimo</date> for the cost of furniture purchased
by him, for his residence.
</p>
<p>
Just before his departure <persName ref="prs:seymour_f">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Seymour</persName> enumerated
the remaining articles necessary to complete the furnishing
[of] his Government House, and as his requirements appeared
reasonable (the additional articles consisting<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">entirely</fw><pb facs="co_60_20/co_60_20_00054r.jpg"/> entirely
of bedroom furniture) the <orgName ref="org:ocac">Crown Agents</orgName> have complied with
them at a further cost of £229.1.0, making a total of £1673.11.0.
