20th November 1865 Sir,

In compliance with the request contained in the last paragraph of your letter of the 16th instant, I beg to inform you that the Crown Agents are of opinion that the most desirable Colonial Securities in which the British Columbia Sinking Funds could at present be invested are those in Ceylon, Mauritius, New South Wales, Victoria and the Cape of Good Hope, and they think it would be wellto to leave it to the Trustees to select half-yearly such one or more of these Stocks as should appear to them at the time being to be the most desirable to purchase, having regard to the price, and to the prospects of the several Colonies named.

With reference to the Treasury letter of the 8th instant, send them for their information a copy of our letter to the Crown Agents and of this answer. Request to be informed whether their Lordships see any objection to approving of the course now proposed by the Crown Agents as to the selection of the Colonial securities in which the B.
