Customs Declaration Ordinance. This Ord<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">e</hi> extends the <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">B.
Columbia</placeName> Customs Laws to goods imported from <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">V. Island</placeName>, which have
not paid Customs Duties. By sec. 5 the collection of such duties
was only allowed to the <date when="1867-03-30">30 March last</date>.
</ab>
<p>
The practical effect of the
Ordinance is to legalize the collection of such duties which
have been made in <placeName ref="plc:new_westminster">New Westminster</placeName>. Express regret that the
 time has been limited.<pb facs="co_60_29/co_60_29_00051r.jpg"/> Sanction.

a very anomalous one, and even under the circumstances under
<choice><abbr>w<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">h</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> it was passed, I <choice><abbr>sh<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">d</hi></abbr><expan>should</expan></choice> doubt the wisdom of increasing any
force it may have as a precedent.
