Hamilton informs the Colonial Office that the Treasury has authorized British Columbia’s drawn bill for overpayment to England on account of the Royal Marines at St. Juan. In reply to your letter of the 12th Inst. I am commanded by the Lords Commissoners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you that the Paymaster General has been authorized to pay the Bill drawn by the Treasurer of British Columbia for the sum of £1,500, in repayment of an overissue by that Government on account of the Royal Marines at St. Juan (£206.11.7) and to meet future charges on their account.

Sir F. Rogers From this it is clear that the Bill referred to in the Governor's despatch is not the Bill for the same amount referred to in the previous letter from the Ty 7023 of which consequently the Gov. has never given advice. As the Gov. has been informed of the acceptance put by? CC 20/12
I think, in that case, the omission to advise should be pointed out to the GovrGovernor. But first make sure that there is an omission. If not then there is great delay as the bill was presented in July and the advice dated October. FR 21/12 CBA 23/12 B&C 27/12
Draft reply, Buckingham to Seymour, No. 103, 31 December 1867 informing Seymour that British Columbia’s drawn bill for “the Royal Marines stationed on San Juan Island” was authorized and that “this Bill has not been reported to this Department in accordance with standing instructions.”
