In reply to your letter of the <date when="1867-12-12">12<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> Inst</date>. I am commanded
by the <orgName ref="org:treasury">Lords Commissoners of Her Majesty's Treasury</orgName> to acquaint you
that the Paymaster General has been authorized to pay the Bill drawn
by the Treasurer of <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName> for the sum of £1,500, in
repayment of an overissue by that Government on account of the Royal
Marines at <placeName ref="plc:san_juan_island">St. Juan</placeName> (£206.11.7) and to meet future charges on their
account.

From this it is clear that the Bill referred to in the Governor's
despatch is not the Bill for the same amount referred to in the
previous letter from the T<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">y</hi> 7023 of which consequently the
Gov. has never given advice. As the Gov. has been informed of
the acceptance put by?

I think, in that case, the omission to advise should be pointed out
to the <choice><abbr>Gov<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi></abbr><expan>Governor</expan></choice>. But first make sure that there is an omission. If
not then there is great delay as the bill was presented in <date when="1867-07">July</date> and
the advice dated <date when="1867-10">October</date>.
