<persName ref="prs:seymour_f">Seymour</persName> encloses a letter from the <orgName ref="org:ocac">Crown Agents</orgName> to <persName ref="prs:young_wag">Young</persName> regarding the amount of money remitted from <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName> for interest on debentures. <persName ref="prs:seymour_f">Seymour</persName> includes a minute from <persName ref="prs:young_wag">Young</persName> showing the amount and number of times funds were transmitted from <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName>. <persName ref="prs:cox_c">Cox</persName>’s minute remarks on <persName ref="prs:seymour_f">Seymour</persName>’s improvement in sending remittances from <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName> and suggests contacting the <orgName ref="org:ocac">Crown Agents</orgName>. Minutes by <persName ref="prs:grenville_r">Buckingham</persName> and <persName ref="prs:cox_c">Cox</persName> discuss how the <orgName ref="org:treasury">Treasury</orgName> responded to the <orgName ref="org:colonial_office">Colonial Office</orgName>’s letter of <date when="1868-06-22">22 June 1868</date>. Included documents describe <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName> colonial sinking fund and the debts the colony owes.

I have the honor to enclose a letter of the <date when="1868-06-03">3<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">rd</hi> June</date>
addressed to the Colonial Secretary by the <orgName ref="org:ocac">Crown Agents</orgName>
complaining of an insufficient remittance<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">of</fw><pb facs="co_60_33/co_60_33_00196v.jpg"/> of money and stating
their opinion that the Credit of the Colony must suffer thereby.
</p>
<p>
2. I add a minute by <persName ref="prs:young_wag">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Young</persName> showing the accounts which
under my direction he has transmitted during the last twelve
months. It certainly does not appear to me to leave much ground
for complaint on the part of the <orgName ref="org:ocac">Crown Agents</orgName>. Could Your Grace
but see the condition of the Streets, Roads and Bridges of<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">New</fw><pb facs="co_60_33/co_60_33_00197r.jpg"/> <placeName ref="plc:new_westminster">New
Westminster</placeName> and <placeName ref="plc:victoria">Victoria</placeName> I think that you would arrive at the
conclusion that we are making considerable sacrifices to keep up
the Public Credit.

the <orgName ref="org:ocac">Crown Agents</orgName> but for information only.
