<persName ref="prs:seymour_f">Seymour</persName> encloses a report from <persName ref="prs:young_wag">Young</persName>, contradicting <persName ref="prs:lowenberg">Lowenberg</persName>’s statement that <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName>’s colonial government intends to dispute <persName ref="prs:lowenberg">Lowenberg</persName>’s claim to Lot Z. <persName ref="prs:seymour_f">Seymour</persName> comments on the issue of Lot Z and states that <persName ref="prs:lowenberg">Lowenberg</persName> was informed <q>that the Colonial Government withdrew all claim to the Lot in question.</q> <persName ref="prs:cox_c">Cox</persName>’s minute suggests contacting the <orgName ref="org:hbc">Hudson's Bay Company</orgName>, L &amp; E Commissioners, and <persName ref="prs:young_wag">Young</persName>.

I have had the honor to receive Your Grace's despatch No. 56 of
the <date when="1868-07-28">28<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> July</date>, referring to a statement made by a <persName ref="prs:lowenberg">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi>
Lowenberg</persName><fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">that</fw><pb facs="co_60_33/co_60_33_00435v.jpg"/> that he had been told that the Local Government would
continue to dispute his title to Lot Z in the town of <placeName ref="plc:victoria">Victoria</placeName>.
<persName ref="prs:lowenberg">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Lowenberg</persName> states that his informant was no less an
authority than the Acting Colonial Secretary.
</p>
<p>
2. I enclose a report from <persName ref="prs:young_wag">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Young</persName> on the subject
and would merely say that I had much rather take his word
than that of <persName ref="prs:lowenberg">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Lowenberg</persName> on any subject.

3. This case is one of those<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">peculiar</fw><pb facs="co_60_33/co_60_33_00436r.jpg"/> peculiar to <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouver Island</placeName> which are
handed down from one Governor to Another for settlement.
However <persName ref="prs:lowenberg">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Lowenberg</persName> was informed on the <date when="1868-10-01">1<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">st</hi> October</date> that
the Colonial Government withdrew all claim to the Lot in
question. Nothing more can be done. I presume that he is now
satisfied.
