<persName ref="prs:lennox_hg">Lennox</persName> informs the <orgName ref="org:colonial_office">Colonial Office</orgName> that the <orgName ref="org:admiralty">Admiralty</orgName> agrees to the terms in <persName ref="prs:grenville_r">Buckingham</persName>’s letter to be sent to <persName ref="prs:seymour_f">Seymour</persName>, concerning landing forces from British naval vessels in British colonial holdings. <persName ref="prs:lennox_hg">Lennox</persName> states that a similar letter being sent to <persName ref="prs:seymour_f">Seymour</persName> has been sent to <persName ref="prs:hastings_gf">Hastings</persName>. <persName ref="prs:cox_c">Cox</persName>’s minute states that <persName ref="prs:grenville_r">Buckingham</persName>’s letter can be sent to <persName ref="prs:seymour_f">Seymour</persName>.

I reply to your letter of the <date when="1868-02-06">6<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> Instant</date> forwarding a
despatch from the Governor of <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName> dated <date when="1867-10-18">18<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi>
Oct<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi></date> respecting the landing of Officers and Men from Her
Majesty's ships to suppress disturbances at <placeName ref="plc:cariboo_region">Cariboo</placeName>, I am
commanded by my <orgName ref="org:admiralty">Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty</orgName> to acquaint
you for the information of His Grace the <persName ref="prs:grenville_r">Duke of Buckingham and Chandos</persName> that they concur in the terms of the letter proposed to
 be sent by His<pb facs="co_60_34/co_60_34_00005v.jpg"/> Grace to <persName ref="prs:seymour_f">Governor Seymour</persName> in answer to his
despatch respecting the landing of Officers and Men from H.M.
Ships for the purpose of enforcing order.

My Lords have given similar instructions to <persName ref="prs:hastings_gf">Rear Admiral
Hastings</persName> on this subject.
