 Regarding <persName ref="prs:tucker_js">Tucker</persName>’s application to construct a hydraulic lift on Vancouver Island, <persName ref="prs:lennox_hg">Lennox</persName> states that the Admiralty would be prepared to support <persName ref="prs:tucker_js">Tucker</persName>’s application for supporting funds to <orgName ref="org:treasury">the Treasury</orgName>, under certain conditions. <persName ref="prs:cox_c">Cox</persName>’s minute suggests informing <persName ref="prs:tucker_js">Tucker</persName> of the Admiralty’s decision.

In reply to your Letter of the <date when="1868-06-22">16<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> Instant</date> transmitting a
Copy of a Letter from <persName ref="prs:tucker_js">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> J. Scott Tucker</persName> relative to the
 desirability of constructing a Hydraulic Lift at <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouvers
Island</placeName>; I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">the</fw><pb facs="co_60_34/co_60_34_00027v.jpg"/> the
<orgName ref="org:admiralty">Admiralty</orgName> to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary
of State for the Colonies, that, should a company be formed and
the requisite Capital be subscribed for the formation of a
Hydraulic Lift in the <placeName ref="plc:esquimalt_harbour">Harbour of Esquimalt</placeName>, my Lords will be
prepared to recommend to <orgName ref="org:treasury">the Treasury</orgName> the application in favour
of the undertaking,<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">of</fw><pb facs="co_60_34/co_60_34_00028r.jpg"/> of the provisions of the "Colonial Docks
Loans Act."
