I am commanded by my <orgName ref="org:admiralty">Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty</orgName> to
transmit herewith, for the information of the Secretary of State
for the Colonies, a copy of a letter from <persName ref="prs:hastings_gf">R<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Admiral, Hon<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">le</hi>
 G. Hastings</persName>, dated the <date when="1868-06-16">16<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> Ulto</date> N<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">o</hi> 92, relative to the
<name type="ip" subtype="group">murder of some Indians</name> in <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName> and the steps
proposed to be taken by<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">the</fw><pb facs="co_60_34/co_60_34_00034v.jpg"/> the Admiral, in concert with the
Governor, to discover the Murderers.

the Governor's despatch (7430) reporting these Murders. It
remains to be seen what action the <choice><abbr>Gov<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi></abbr><expan>Governor</expan></choice> will take on the<pb facs="co_60_34/co_60_34_00035r.jpg"/> matter.

Ackn. receipt &amp; say that the <persName ref="prs:grenville_r">Duke of Buckingham</persName> learns with much
satisfaction that <persName ref="prs:hastings_gf">Admiral Hastings</persName> has expressed his
readiness to cooperate with the <choice><abbr>Gov<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi></abbr><expan>Governor</expan></choice> in arresting the Murderers.

<p>
Ackn. receipt of the Gov<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">rs</hi> despatch 7430 &amp; say that from a
communication <choice><abbr>rec<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">d</hi></abbr><expan>received</expan></choice> from the <orgName ref="org:admiralty">Admiralty</orgName> his Grace has learned
with much satisfaction &amp;c—&amp; add that the <choice><abbr>Gov<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi></abbr><expan>Governor</expan></choice> will of
course not fail to report the result of the steps he may have
taken for arresting the Murderers?
