for <persName ref="prs:stanley">Stanley</persName> to <q>reply to this application.</q> Minutes by <persName ref="prs:cox_c">Cox</persName> and <persName ref="prs:elliot_tf">Elliot</persName> suggest
recommending <persName ref="prs:crease">Crease</persName> as the individual in <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName> to contact.

I am directed by <persName ref="prs:stanley">Lord Stanley</persName> to request that you will inform
the <persName ref="prs:grenville_r">Duke of Buckingham and Chandos</persName> that His Lordship
 communicated to the Prussian Ambassador the substance of the
information contained<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">in</fw><pb facs="co_60_34/co_60_34_00149v.jpg"/> in your letter of the <date when="1868-02-10">10<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> of February
 last</date>, respecting the property left by <persName ref="prs:baar_jhc">J.H.C. Baar</persName> in <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British
Columbia</placeName>, and that a note has now been received from the chargé
d'affaires stating that his Government has directed him to
enquire, on behalf of <persName ref="prs:baar_jhc">Baar</persName>'s relatives, whether Her Majesty's
Government could indicate a suitable<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">person</fw><pb facs="co_60_34/co_60_34_00150r.jpg"/> person in the Colony to
whom the relatives could delegate the arrangement of the
property. I am to request that you will move His Grace to
enable <persName ref="prs:stanley">Lord Stanley</persName> to return a reply to this application.
