In accordance with the request contained in your letter dated 14 Inst: I am directed by Sir Stafford Northcote to forward to you for the information of the Duke of Buckingham & Chandos, a copy of Act I of 1859 passed by the Legislative Council of India, being an "Act for the amendment of the Laws relating to Merchant Seamen."

Mr Adderley I think the request for the Indian Acts was really unreasonable in the case of a Colony like B. Columbia & I would therefore leave out all expression of regret. HTH 21/9
