Gray transmits a notice of Examination of Masters and Mates &c, together with a complete set of [Masters and Mates] Examination papers. Gray relates which books are used for examinations and where to purchase the books in London. Robinson’s minute suggests sending the forms from Gray to Seymour and having the Agents procure and send the mentioned books to Seymour as well.

21st September 1868 Sir,

I am directed by the Board of Trade to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 18th instant inclosing copy of a Dispatch from the Governor of British Columbia inclosing a copy of a letter from the Officer acting as Chairman of the Pilot Board and Harbour Master in that Colony applying for printed Forms of Examination of Mastersand and Mates together with such Books as are used for that purpose.

In reply I am to transmit to you for the information of the Duke of Buckingham and Chandos & for transmission to the Governor of British Columbia the accompanying copies of the notice of "Examination of Masters and Mates &c," together with a complete set of Examination papers.

I am to add that the Books used at the Examination Rooms are "Rapers" and "Nories"Epitome Epitome and Nautical Almanack and Tide Tables, which can be obtained at any bookseller, and always at Messrs Potters Poultry Cheapside London.
