Buckingham informs Seymour that the Treasury will not object to the government of British Columbia drawing Bills on the Paymaster General half yearly, in advance, for sums not exceeding £150, for paying Imperial pensioners resident in British Columbia. Buckingham describes additional conditions under which the Treasury will not object to the stated arrangement for paying imperial pensioners.

I have to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No. 27 of the 3rd of April, respecting the loss which the Colony sustains by the present mode of paying Imperial pensioners resident in British Columbia.

In reply I have to inform you that the LordsCommissioners Commissioners of the Treasury to whom your Despatch was referred have stated that they will not object to your Government drawing Bills on the Paymaster General half yearly, in advance, for sums not exceeding £150 each on account of these pensioners. But in this case account and vouchers for the expenditure of the money so drawn must be sent to this Country every half year.
