I have had the honor to receive Your Lordship's despatch No. 18
of the <date when="1869-03-07">7<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> March</date> in reference to some<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">Murders</fw><pb facs="co_60_35/co_60_35_00686v.jpg"/> Murders which the <name type="ip" subtype="group">Indians
in the neighbourhood of <placeName ref="plc:metlakatla">Metlakahtla</placeName></name> had committed.
</p>
<p>
2. Your Lordship, does not, I regret to say, consider my
explanation satisfactory. I have only therefore awaited the
return of the Spring to enable me to visit the North West Coast.
I start in Her Majesty's Ship "<name ref="vsl:sparrowhawk" type="vessel">Sparrowhawk</name>" this<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">afternoon</fw><pb facs="co_60_35/co_60_35_00687r.jpg"/> afternoon for
<placeName ref="plc:metlakatla">Metlakahtla</placeName>.
