With reference to your letter[s] of <date when="1869-02-16">February 16</date> and <date when="1869-03-03">March 3</date>, I am
directed by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to
transmit to you, to be laid before <persName ref="prs:leveson_g">Earl Granville</persName>, a copy of a
note from the Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs to Her
Majesty's Minister at Madrid, stating that orders have been
given to the Governors of Spanish Colonies to admit vessels of
<placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName>, Western Australia and the Straits Settlements
to the advantage, secured by the Spanish decree of <date when="1868-06-04">June 4 1868</date>,
in respect of Port and Navigation dues.
