<placeName ref="plc:san_francisco">San Francisco</placeName> state that the Governor of <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName>—<persName ref="prs:seymour_f">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi>
Frederick Seymour</persName>—died on Thursday last, whilst inspecting the
Coasts of the Colony on board the Gunboat <name ref="vsl:sparrowhawk" type="vessel">Sparrowhawk</name>. The
senior member of the Council has assumed the lead of the
Government pending instructions from England.
