<p>
Having submitted to the Postmaster General your letter of the
<date when="1870-09-15">15<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> Instant</date>, Enclosing copy of a despatch from the Governor of
<placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName>, in which he recommends that the Money Order
System shall be extended to that Colony, I am desired by his
Lordship to state, for the information of the <persName ref="prs:wodehouse">Earl of Kimberley</persName>,
that he readily assents to the Governor's proposal; but before
fixing a date for commencing the measure, I am to request that
the accompanying copies of the rules which have been drawn up
for the transaction of Money Order business between the United
Kingdom and the Colonies may be sent to the Governor of <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British
Columbia</placeName> for the concurrence of his Government.
</p>
<p>
The <persName ref="prs:cavendish_sc">Marquis of Hartington</persName> will also<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">be</fw><pb facs="co_60_42/co_60_42_00293v.jpg"/> be glad if <persName ref="prs:wodehouse">Lord Kimberley</persName>
will request the Governor to State at what places in the Colony
it is intended to establish Offices for the issue and payment of
Money Orders on and from this Country, and what rate of
commission it is proposed to charge on Money Orders issued in
the Colony.
</p>
<p>
On receiving information on these points, <persName ref="prs:cavendish_sc">Lord Hartington</persName> will
be in a position to name a date for the Simultaneous
commencement of the measure in the United Kingdom and in the
Colony.
