<p><persName ref="prs:pelly_jh">Pelly</persName> informs Hawes that he has reviewed the correspondences—to which he provides a reference list—that discuss colonization, a subject of interest to several parties, particularly <persName ref="prs:fitzgerald_je">FitzGerald</persName>, who is keen on coal.</p>
<p>The minutes debate the intentions of <persName ref="prs:pelly_jh">Pelly</persName>'s letter; <persName ref="prs:grey_hg">Grey</persName> says that he would be glad to review a new <orgName ref="org:hbc">HBC</orgName> plan, one that incorporates the question of coal.</p>

49 — You will on reference to your papers find it all, in the following
Letters, to the last of which, mine of the <date when="1847-03-05">5 March 1847</date>, I have not

to the correspondence <unclear>shewing?</unclear> that the H.B.<choice><abbr>C<hi style="text-decoration: underline; vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">y</hi></abbr><expan>Company</expan></choice> had desired such a proposition. Whether it does or not I cannot now say. It requires no answer.
