<p><persName ref="prs:blanshard">Blanshard</persName> writes <persName ref="prs:grey_hg">Grey</persName> from <placeName ref="plc:panama">Panama</placeName> to inform of his arrival there, on route to <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouver Island</placeName>. <persName ref="prs:blanshard">Blanshard</persName> adds that he has heard nothing from <persName ref="prs:hornby_p">Hornby</persName> with regards to further passage.</p>
<p><persName ref="prs:jadis_v">Jadis</persName> minutes that <persName ref="prs:hornby_p">Hornby</persName> could not afford passage to meet <persName ref="prs:blanshard">Blanshard</persName>, and that <persName ref="prs:pelly_jh">Pelly</persName> has been so informed.</p>

<p>I hereby beg to inform you of my arrival at <placeName ref="plc:panama">Panama</placeName> on my way to
<placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouvers Island</placeName>, <ref target="#marg1"/>on the <date when="1849-11-28">28<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> of November</date>; I have as yet heard nothing from <persName ref="prs:hornby_p">Admiral Hornby</persName>, relative to my further passage, nor have I had any opportunity of communicating with him, by the Lima Mail Packet,
which sails tomorrow, I intend to forward to the Admiral a copy of the
dispatch dated the <date when="1849-08-09">9<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> August</date>, relating thereto with<pb facs="co_305_02/co_305_02_00025v.jpg"/> a copy of which
I was furnished by the <orgName ref="org:admiralty">Admiralty</orgName> previous to leaving England,</p>
