<p><persName ref="prs:hamilton_wab">Hamilton</persName> writes <persName ref="prs:merivale_h">Merivale</persName> in response to <persName ref="prs:merivale_h">Merivale</persName>'s letter that discusses <persName ref="prs:blanshard">Blanshard</persName>'s passage from <placeName ref="plc:panama">Panama</placeName> to <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouver Island</placeName>. <persName ref="prs:hamilton_wab">Hamilton</persName> reports that he has been commanded by <orgName ref="org:admiralty">Admiralty</orgName> to forward, for <persName ref="prs:grey_hg">Grey</persName>'s information, a previous letter on the same subject.</p>
<p>In the minutes, <persName ref="prs:blackwood_aj">Blackwood</persName> asks whether or not <persName ref="prs:pelly_jh">Pelly</persName> should be informed as to why <persName ref="prs:blanshard">Blanshard</persName> did not <q>get a passage in a Queen's Ship.</q> <persName ref="prs:merivale_h">Merivale</persName> asks, <q>Inform?</q> and the others concur to do so.</p>
<p>This file encloses a letter from <persName ref="prs:hornby_p">Hornby</persName> to <persName ref="prs:parker_j">Parker</persName>—the letter which <persName ref="prs:hamilton_wab">Hamilton</persName> forwards—that explains that <persName ref="prs:hornby_p">Hornby</persName> did not receive an order to send a ship to <placeName ref="plc:panama">Panama</placeName> until after <persName ref="prs:blanshard">Blanshard</persName>'s arrival. The final enclosure is a draft letter from the <orgName ref="org:colonial_office">Colonial Office</orgName> to <persName ref="prs:pelly_jh">Pelly</persName>, which reports that <q>the <orgName ref="org:admiralty">Admiralty</orgName></q> was unable at the time to provide <persName ref="prs:blanshard">Blanshard</persName>'s passage from <placeName ref="plc:panama">Panama</placeName> to <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouver Island</placeName>.</p>

Island</placeName>, from <placeName ref="plc:panama">Panama</placeName> to <ref target="#marg1"/><placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">that Island</placeName> in one of Her Majesty's Ships; I am
