I transmit to you herewith the copy of a correspondence between this office and the Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company, on the subject of certain land in Vancouver's Island which the Company has intimated its intention of appropriating with the view to extending its fur trade; and I have to direct you to furnish me with any information in yourpower power as to the extent and description of the land in question.

2. Extract, Pelly to Grey, 14 January 1852, stating lands possessed prior to the Oregon boundary treaty will be made over to the HBC without purchase but that the PSAC will pay for its land.
