Osborne, on behalf of the Admiralty, writes to Merivale, for Newcastle’s information, with respect to extract of Moresby’s, from an earlier letter, that discusses the Virago’s visit to Queen CharlottesCharlotte's Island.

In the minutes, Blackwood asks Merivale to communicate with the HBC, presumably, on the subject of Osborne’s letter.

Of the other documents included in the file, the first is a draft letter, from the Colonial Office to Colvile, of the HBC, which forwards a copy of an extract from Moresby; the second is the extract in question, from Moresby to the Admiralty, which discusses the supply and mission of the Virago.

I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to send you herewith for the information of the Duke of Newcastle an Extract of a Letter from Rear Admiral Moresby dated the 7th of Decr last No 123 relative to the intended visit of Her Majestys Steam Sloop Virago to Queen Charlottes Island.
