Hamilton, as commanded by the Admiralty, writes to Merivale, for Newcastle’s information, to forward a copy of a letter from Moresby, with enclosures, that discusses Prevost’s visit to Queen Charlottes Island (QCI) in the Virago.

The minutes ask that extracts of Moresby’s letter be sent to the HBC.

The six documents included in the file discuss proceedings at QCI, in light of the capture of the Susan Sturges, and include perspectives on the incident from Prevost, Moresby, Douglas, and Rooney.

I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to transmit to you for the information of the Duke of Newcastle the copy of a letter from Rear Admiral Moresby dated 4 August last No 51, and its enclosures with reference to the proceedings of Comr J.C. Prevost of HM Sloop Virago at Queen Charlottes Island &c.
