<p><persName ref="prs:newcastle">Newcastle</persName> writes to <persName ref="prs:douglas_j">Douglas</persName> to call to <persName ref="prs:douglas_j">Douglas</persName>’s attention the regulations for <q>Official Correspondence,</q> found in the <q>Book of Colonial Regulations,</q> and points to specific rules that <persName ref="prs:douglas_j">Douglas</persName> has, in previous despatches, apparently overlooked. <persName ref="prs:newcastle">Newcastle</persName> notes his inclusion of a copy of the <q>Book of Colonial Regulations,</q> which does not appear in the file.</p>

I have to call your attention to the sixth Chapter of the Book of
Colonial Regulations (a copy of which is herewith enclosed) which
prescribes the mode in which Officers Administering Colonial Governments
are to conduct<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">their</fw><pb facs="rg7_g8c_01/rg7_g8c_01_00083v.jpg"/> their Official Correspondence.
</p>
<p>
In your recent Despatches I observe that some of the rules laid
down in this Chapter have been overlooked. I refer more particularly to
those numbered 4, 5 and 9.
