letter lately received from <persName ref="prs:douglas_j">Governor Douglas</persName>, dated <placeName ref="plc:victoria">Victoria</placeName>,
<placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouver's Island</placeName> <date when="1857-10-07">October 7<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> 1857</date> on the subject of the change in
the terms of payment for Land in that Colony, as sanctioned by Her
Majesty's Government, which appears to be working satisfactorily.
