With reference to <persName ref="prs:fitzgerald_wrsv">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Fitzgerald</persName>s Letter of the <date when="1858-09-30">30<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> of
September last</date>, inclosing a copy of a Despatch from Her
Majesty's Minister at <placeName ref="plc:washington_city">Washington</placeName> relative to the claim of
<persName ref="prs:douglas_j">Governor Douglas</persName> on the United States Government for the
re-payment of a Sum of Money advanced by him in <date when="1856">1856</date> to the
Authorities of <placeName ref="plc:washington_territory">Washington Territory</placeName>, I am directed by the <persName ref="prs:malmesbury">Earl of Malmesbury</persName> to transmit to you a copy of a further Despatch
from <persName ref="prs:napier">Lord Napier</persName> inclosing a copy of the answer which he has
received from the United States<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">Secretary</fw><pb facs="co_305_09/co_305_09_00413v.jpg"/> Secretary of State upon the
subject of this claim.
