<p>Enclosed is a draft from the CO to <persName ref="prs:itter_w">Itter</persName> advising that the government could not offer him any appointment in the colony.</p>

I have relations residing at <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouvers Island</placeName> in the employment
of the <orgName ref="org:hbc">Hudsons Bay C<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">o</hi></orgName> and have a desire to join them there.
Should you have any place in your gift for that Colony will
you kindly allow me to offer myself to your notice. I have been
for some years employed as Clerk in a <placeName ref="plc:london">London</placeName> Banking house and
can furnish first class references. I should not object to any
situation there, provided there was an opportunity of promotion
and would pay my own passage out. My age is 28.
