Lytton informs Douglas that Rear Admiral Sir Michael Seymour has been ordered to send the Tribune with as many Supernumerary Marines as she can carry and he can spare to Vancouver Island. The Plyades and Amethyst have also been ordered in the first instance to the island.

I have to acquaint you that directions were sent by the Overland Mail of the 25th instant to Rear Admiral Sir Michael Seymour to despatch Her Majesty's Ship "Tribune" to Vancouver's Island with as many Supernumerary Marines as she can carry and he can spare.

The Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty have further apprized that the Admiral was instructed in May last to send Her Majesty's Ships "Plyades" and "Amethyst" to the Pacific Station as soon as their services in India and China might be no longer required, and that he has now been ordered to send the two ships in the first instance to Vancouver's Island.
