I have the honor to forward for Your Grace's information the Report
of a Journey to <placeName ref="plc:lax_kwalaams">Fort Simpson</placeName>, <placeName ref="plc:haida_gwaii">Queen Charlotte's <fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">Island</fw><pb facs="co_305_14/co_305_14_00055v.jpg"/>Island</placeName>, the <placeName ref="plc:nass_river">Nass River</placeName>, and other parts of the North West Coast, performed in the
summer and autumn of <date when="1859">1859</date>, by <persName ref="prs:torrens">R.W. Torrens</persName> late Captain in Her Majesty's 55<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> Regiment, giving interesting descriptions of the
Countries visited, with an account of their auriferous and mineral
productions.
</p>

2. <persName ref="prs:torrens">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Torrens</persName> is not in the service of, nor in any way connected
with the Government; but has kindly placed his Report at my disposal
for the information <fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;"><unclear>of</unclear></fw><pb facs="co_305_14/co_305_14_00056r.jpg"/>of Her Majesty's Government, for which he has
received my warmest thanks.
