I transmit to you herewith the copy of a letter addressed to me by Mr S.R. Heseltine, respecting the effects of his son Samuel Heseltine, who died in Vancouver Island on the 5th of September 1859.

I have to request that you will cause inquiry to be made into the circumstances stated in this letter and furnish me with a report on the subject.
