Having been shewn in the Adjutants Office at these Barracks a scale of pay and allowances granted to the Officers, Non-Commd Officers, and Privates, of the Royal Marines who served at Vancouver Island, for a period of 15 or 16 months, and Approved by "Rear Admiral Sir Robert Lambert Baynes"—

The amount that I am entitled to as Pay, and Quarter Master on the Staff, during the whole period, and part of the time as Captain appearing to be £293—

I have the honor to request you will be pleased to have the Same paid into the hands of my Agents Messrs W & E. Chard, 3 Cliffords Inn, London.

Mr Elliot Mr Chard has called here about this and I have told him that we have no means of knowing how much is due to Capt Henry and that the Governor has drawn on the Treasury for the pay of the Marines. Mr Chard will accordingly inform Captain Henry that he must apply to the Colonial authorities and it will be sufficient to answer his present letter to the same effect.
