The Conveyance of land surrounding Christ Church <placeName ref="plc:victoria">Victoria</placeName>, <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouver</placeName>,
from the <orgName ref="org:hbc">Hudsons Bay Company</orgName> to the Church of England, in accordance
with an understanding between that body &amp; the Imperial <choice><abbr>Gov<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">t</hi></abbr><expan>Government</expan></choice> has not
yet been effected.
</p>
<p>
I was assured by the Attorney General of <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouver</placeName> the day before I
left <placeName ref="plc:victoria">Victoria</placeName> (<date when="1863-05-08">May 8</date>) that no further delay should take place; but as
I have not seen the draft, and as there are interests &amp; phraseology<pb facs="co_305_21/co_305_21_00274v.jpg"/>
on the part of the Church needing my attention I have the honor to
request your Grace to allow me to examine the Deed before it is
finally submitted for execution.
