A Client of mine here <persName ref="prs:vinter">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Charles Vinter</persName> Tailor &amp; Robemaker
has a claim of £30-9 against <persName ref="prs:cary_gh">G.H. Cary</persName> Esq Consul <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British
Columbia</placeName> which has now been standing for a long period. A principal
portion of the Account being incurred for his Court Dress on his
Presentation at Court. Application has been made to him but no reply
received. I have ventured to trouble you to ascertain if it is
within the province of the <orgName ref="org:colonial_office">Colonial Office</orgName> to assist my Client in the
recovery of this debt by a notification from you to <persName ref="prs:cary_gh">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Cary</persName> or
otherwise.
