<p><persName ref="prs:lugard">Lugard</persName> requests that maps of Esquimalt Harbour be sent to <persName ref="prs:moody_rc">Colonel Moody</persName>. <persName ref="prs:jadis_v">Jadis</persName> provides a copy of the map that fits the description provided by <persName ref="prs:moody_rc">Moody</persName> along with a minute that notes <persName ref="prs:jadis_v">Jadis</persName> had previously shown the map to <persName ref="prs:moody_rc">Moody</persName> but who had <q>pronounced it not to be the Map to which he referred.</q></p>

With reference to previous correspondence which has taken place
relative to plans of <placeName ref="plc:british_columbia">British Columbia</placeName>;
</p>
<p>
I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to transmit to you,
for <persName ref="prs:cardwell">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Secretary Cardwell</persName>'s information, the accompanying copy of a
letter received from <persName ref="prs:moody_rc">Colonel Moody</persName> R.E., late Commanding Royal
Engineer in that Colony, on the above subject, and I am to signify
<persName ref="prs:robinson_gf">Lord de Grey</persName>'s request<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">that</fw><pb facs="co_305_24/co_305_24_00259v.jpg"/> that you will move <persName ref="prs:cardwell">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Cardwell</persName> to favor him
with two copies of the maps therein referred to, should the Statement
in the last paragraph of <persName ref="prs:moody_rc">Colonel Moody</persName>'s letter be correct.

lithographed in <placeName ref="plc:london">London</placeName>, but I showed it to him the other day when he
pronounced it not to be the<pb facs="co_305_24/co_305_24_00260r.jpg"/> Map to which he referred. Send it
however to the <orgName ref="org:war_office">W.O.</orgName> as the only one we have?
