The Governor has forwarded to you the originals of the enclosed with his own despatch.

As in the administration of affairs in this colony circumstances similar to those therein mentioned can hardly occur during my life the best part of which is long spent already and the great injustice, unintentionally done me, and which is felt by the whole Profession here and the Public if not rectified by you must be lasting, I feel the more sure that you will give your best attention to those circumstances.

E. Alston to Ring, 23 August 1864, citing his experience, honor and capacity as ideal qualifications for the post of Attorney General and urging him to approach the governor and "make known your claims of which His Excellency may not possibly by aware."
