I have to acknowledge your letter of <date when="1866-03-16">16<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> ultimo</date>, and in reply to
acquaint you that in obedience to the directions therein contained,
we have obtained the concurrence of the <orgName ref="org:hbc">Hudson's Bay C<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">o</hi></orgName> to the
 Draft reconveyance to the Crown of <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouvers Island</placeName>, as slightly
altered by the <orgName ref="org:law_officers">Law Officers</orgName> of the Crown.
</p>
<p>
2. Enclosed are copies of the correspondence between the Company
and ourselves on the subject.
</p>

3. You will observe that the alteration in Red Ink made in the
Draft by the Company's Solicitor, <persName ref="prs:maynard">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Maynard</persName>, and alluded to in
his letter to <persName ref="prs:fraser_t">M<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">r</hi> Fraser</persName> of <date when="1866-03-23">23<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">rd</hi> ultimo</date>, has been withdrawn by his
letter to us of <date when="1866-04-10">10<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> inst</date>, so that the Draft remains as settled by
the <orgName ref="org:law_officers">Law Officers</orgName> of the Crown, and may now be forwarded, as altered
in Red ink, to the Governor of <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouvers Island</placeName> as suggested in my
report of <date when="1865-03-20">20 March 1865</date>.
</p>

4. I return the Draft and the Papers which accompanied your letter.

<date when="1866-03-16">16<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> ult<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">o</hi></date>. It should either be attached to 2296 <placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">VCI</placeName> or referred
to there.

Draft at once. The situation of the papers to be sent will
require some care.
