 Writing on behalf of the Board of trade in Whitehall, <persName ref="prs:trevor_cc">Trevor</persName> replies <q>that this Board [has] no objection to the … Act to amend the scale of Fees charged for the entrance and clearance of Vessels, Licenses to Scows, Boats, and other craft, and dues for landing Permits, as well as other matters relating to the same in the <placeName ref="plc:victoria_harbour">Port of Victoria</placeName> including <placeName ref="plc:esquimalt_harbour">Esquimalt</placeName>.</q> <persName ref="prs:rogers_f">Rogers</persName>’s minute instructs that the <orgName ref="org:board_trade">Board of Trade</orgName>’s approval be sent <q>to the Council Office.</q> The included document, from <persName ref="prs:carnarvon">Carnarvon</persName> to the Lord President and <q>the Queen in Council,</q> recommends <q>act No.135…be left to its operation.</q>

I am directed by the <orgName ref="org:board_trade">Board of Trade</orgName> to acknowledge your letter of
the <date when="1867-01-07">7<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> Inst.</date>, transmitting for their consideration a transcript
of an Act, N<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">o</hi> 11 of <date when="1866">1866</date>, passed at the last Session of the
<placeName ref="plc:vancouver_island">Vancouvers Island</placeName> Legislature, and entitled "An Act to amend the
scale of Fees charged for the entrance and clearance of Vessels,
Licenses to Scows, Boats, and other craft, and dues for landing
Permits, as well as other matters relating to the same in the <placeName ref="plc:victoria_harbour">Port of Victoria</placeName> including <placeName ref="plc:esquimalt_harbour">Esquimalt</placeName>"—and requesting to be informed
 whether this Board are of opinion that<fw type="catchword" style="text-align: right;">this</fw><pb facs="co_305_30/co_305_30_00067r.jpg"/> this Act may properly be
submitted for Her Majesty's Confirmation.

In reply I am to acquaint you for the information of the <persName ref="prs:carnarvon">Earl of
Carnarvon</persName>, that this Board see no objection to the Act in question.

I suppose the observations upon the Liquor Licence Act &amp; Homestead
Act point<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">d</hi> out in your minute of <date when="1866-11-30">30<hi style="vertical-align: super; font-size: 80%;">th</hi> Nov. last</date> will be set forth
in the Despatch which goes out with the Orders in Council sanctioning
the 9 other Acts.
