I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your Despatch No 11 of the 2nd September last1, acquainting me that you have appointed Mr Chartres Brew to be Chief Inspector of Police in British Columbia, and enclosing to me the Testimonials of that Gentleman. 2

2. I have to offer my best thanks for your considerate attention in sending out Mr Brew to British Columbia. The instructions you have communicated respecting Mr Brew's pay and allowances have been noted, and will be duly attended to.
