With reference to your letter of the 26th June last 1 requesting that a Vessel of War might be sent to Vancouver's Island to support the Civil Authorities and protect British Interests—I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you, for the information of Secretary Sir Edward Lytton Bulwer, that Rear Admiral Baynes has reported that he would proceed from Callao to Vancouvers IslandwithoutManuscript image without delay, in his Flag Ship the "Ganges."
The Rear Admiral intended leaving Callao on the 28th August.
