I am desired to transmit to you herewith for the information of Her Majesty's Secretary of State for the Colonies, Copy of a letter from the Agent of this Company at Panama, dated 8th October, reporting the departure thence for San Francisco of Captain Parsons and the detachment of Royal Engineers, who left Southampton on the 2nd September last for Vancouver's Island.
