With reference to
Mr Elliot's letter of the
30th
Ultimo,
I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of Her
Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you, for the information of

quarterly, of
Colonel Moody's Civil and Military pay, as
Chief Commissioner of Lands and Works in
British Columbia, to
his Agents Mess
rs Cox and C
o, but They consider that
that Officer should transmit periodically to the Secretary of
State the usual Certificate of his Existence, required in similar cases.
An advance of 120 days pay has already been
made made to
Colonel Moody and other officers of this Expedition, which
pay Their Lordships presume will commence from the date
when They ceased to receive pay from the War Department,
as sanctioned by the letter of this Board of the
7th
Ultimo.
