Moody to Under-Secretary of State
Topographical Office, War Dept
4 New Street, Spring Gardens
25th Octr 1858
Sir,
The Secretary of State was good enough to sanction £300.0s.0d being granted towards defraying the expenses of three officers wives accompanying the Expedition to B. Columbia. Captain Grant received 100.0.0 for Mrs Grant. I shall feel obliged by 100.0.0 being now placed to my credit at Messrs Cox & Co in aid of Mrs Moody's passage.
This will leave an unexpended balance of 100.0.0 for this Service.
I have the honour to be Sir
Yr most obedient humble Servant
R.C. Moody
Col. R.E.
