Sir,
This letter will be presented to you by
Mr John D'Ewes who is
proceeding to
B Columbia and who has applied to me for a letter of
introduction to you.
Mr D'Ewes has been personally acquainted with
me for many years.
In granting this introduction it has been explained to
Mr D'Ewes
that it will confer upon him no claim to Public employment in the Colony.
Mr D'Ewes has held several Colonial appointments in Australia
which leads me to trust that he will prove a useful Member of Society
in the Colony under your
Govt.
