Sir,
I have duly received your Despatch of the 12th November 1858, No 39 transmitting to me the copy of a letter you have received from the Foreign Office,
F.O. 11266.
stating that certain persons engaged in a system of crimping Sailors are believed toManuscript imageto have proceeded to Fraser's River from Callao.
2. I have to thank you for this information which will put us upon our guard against the machinations of these individuals; and as a precautionary measure I have forwarded a copy of the letter to the Senior Officer of Her Majesty's Ships and Vessels at Vancouver's Island.
