Sir,
I have duly received your Despatch No 47, of the 11th April last approving of my employment of Mr Brew in the capacity of Chief Gold Commissioner, and of the appointment of Mr C.J.R. Bedford as a Justice of the Peace for the District of Langley.

With reference thereto I have the honor to inform you that Mr Brew having requested to be relieved of the duties of Gold Commissioner I complied with his request, and Mr Sanders, Assistant Gold Commissioner is now in charge of the Gold Department. Mr Bedford having tendered his resignation I accepted it, and appointed Mr Peter O'Reilly to be Justice of the Peace at Langley in his stead.
